How the Montessori Approach Works With Thematic Learning
The speciality in Greenfield is the way we integrate Montessori into a thematic approach. An example of how Montessori teaching works with a thematic approach.
In a Montessori classroom, the language area carries an assortment of materials like Large/Small Moveable, Word boxes and Sand paper alphabets. These materials are arranged from simple to complex and they help in cultivating vocabulary development, communication skills, writing and reading readiness. This hands-on approach to language indeed helps children with phonetic analysis, word blending skills and reading.
Children working on thematic based subjects associate knowledge from Montessori activities with Non-Montessori materials and they are able to read effortlessly and fluently. Integrating Montessori and non-Montessori materials and activities in the Language program gives the child the best resources for success in writing and reading and inspires a life-long love for learning.

I’d like to comment about Greenfield Montessori. This is the second and also the last pre-school for my daughter before she embarks her new journey in primary school. I came across Greenfield Montessori 3 years ago and what attracted me (first impression) was the environment, curriculum and the vibes from the teachers. I remembered vividly it was Teacher Dahlia who brought me around the school tour despite heavily pregnant. She walked me through every single detail of the school and shared the whole curriculum as well as output (academic) and skill-set from each child. To be honest, every child will grow at his / her own pace but I felt very comfortable and assured in how Montessori learning will be. It is good to start Montessori learning at a young age and I do believe so even now. I can see how my daughter grow and learn from Greenfield Montessori. She learnt and showed good motor, cognitive skills and essential skills (writing, reading and counting) till date. She learnt how to express and speaks so well at this age. She adapted so well in this school even on the first day (without crying) and showed so much interest and eagerness to school every single day. A few teachers whom I’ll be naming who showed great dedication, showering care and love - Mrs Vasu, Teacher Dahlia, Teacher Medaline, Teacher Bharati and Chen Lao Shi. To date, teachers will always share feedbacks on my girl’s progress and to be honest, I feel proud hearing how well she learn and progress in school each day. Aside to that, I admire and respect Mrs Vasu for her 24/7 responsiveness and responsibility. Another good example from the school - my girl had an eye infection (chalazion) recently. Just a simple text from me to the teachers and Mrs Vasu to take note of her. To be honest, I did not expect the extra help and attention to my girl. Mrs Vasu and Teacher Dahlia extended their help to apply warm compression for my girl. I am really touched by their kindness and love.

I had to come in here to write a good comment about the school as I noticed many fake reviews about the school which are untrue and posted by an unhappy ex teacher using multiple fake accounts. I am an actual parent of 2 kids who are attending this school and free from any conflict of interest with independent thoughts. In all honestly I benefitted so much from Greenfield Montessori the last 7 years. In my personal experience, my eldest son graduated from this school fully ready for primary school and I did not have to enrol him in any additional enrichment classes or tuition as the curriculum of the school is well balanced and prepares the child not just in academics but also in day to day life activities thanks to their Montessori method of teaching. The principal is actively in touch with all parents and takes all feedback and concerns of parents seriously. In many other schools, principals are not very much in touch with parents and not the first respondents, but here you can be rest assured your child is safe as the principal goes the extra mile to help parents with their various needs. My son is now attending one of the top primary schools in SG West and thanks to Greenfield for laying a solid foundation for life in his preschool education. My second child is also similarly displaying very advanced knowledge in learning and her teachers are constantly updating her progress making it a worry free experience for a working mother like me. Mrs Vasu the principal ensures that parents can be rest assured that the quality of teachers and their teaching and caring standards on our children are not compromised always. I would not have felt any safer about my kids attending another school as I appreciate the close day to day communication with the teachers and Mrs Vasu. Thank you Mrs Vasu and the hardworking teachers of Greenfield!
